Publication Ethics

This journal may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, or linked to the full text of this article; articles may be saved, crawled for indexing, fed as data into software, or used for other legitimate purposes, without any financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inherent in accessing the Internet itself.

This statement on the code of ethics for scientific publication is based on LIPI Head Regulation No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. The code of ethics for publication consists of standards that must be adhered to by authors who intend to publish their scientific works in academic journals, including:

  • Ethics: the ability to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behavior in writing.
  • Scientific integrity: upholding scientific principles, essence, and truth, so as not to sacrifice them for any interest.
  • Neutrality: free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications.
  • Fairness: granting authorship rights to those who are rightfully entitled to them.
  • Honesty: free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Material not published in a submitted article may not be used in the editor’s own research without the author’s written consent.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief

  1. Determine the journal’s name, academic scope, frequency of publication, and accreditation, if necessary.
  2. Determining editor membership.
  3. Defining the relationships between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respecting confidentiality, whether for contributing researchers, authors, editors, or peer reviewers.
  5. Enforcing standards and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyrights.
  6. Conduct a journal policy review and communicate the results to authors, editors, peer reviewers, and readers.
  7. Create a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
  8. Publish journal articles on a regular basis.
  9. Ensuring the availability of funding to support the continued publication of the journal.
  10. Building a network of partnerships and marketing.
  11. Improving the quality of the journal.
  12. Preparing permits and other legal matters.

Duties and Responsibilities of an Editor

  1. The editor provides comments on the author’s writing so that readers can understand the author’s intended message through the comments included in the article.
  2. The editor provides feedback on the author’s manuscript in accordance with EBI (Indonesian Spelling Rules) or the language standards of the journal.
  3. The editor strives to continuously improve the quality of publications;
  4. The editor prioritizes freedom of expression in an objective manner,
  5. The editor publishes corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies as necessary,
  6. The editor ensures that the author’s work does not involve issues related to race, religion, ethnicity, or intergroup relations (SARA) or anything that could harm the publisher, and coordinates the author’s work with the publisher’s editor-in-chief if the work is somewhat controversial.
  7. The editor receives, reviews, and follows up on complaints from all parties involved in the publication of the journal;
  8. The editor supports initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics,
  9. The editor does not express his or her own opinions, nor those of the author or any third party, which could lead to a lack of objectivity,
  10. The editor encourages authors to revise their work until it is ready for publication.
  11. The editor formats the articles to be published so that they conform to the journal's template.
  12. Editors assist the editor-in-chief in finalizing the collection of articles before they are printed and published, particularly with regard to language, format, and layout.

Duties and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  1. Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the scientific merit of the article and its contribution to the advancement of science;
  2. To determine whether the article is sufficiently clear, comprehensive, and relevant, and whether it falls within the journal’s scope;
  3. Do not make personal criticisms or comments; and
  4. Maintain the confidentiality of the article by refraining from discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing the information contained in the article to others.

Author Ethics

Code of Ethics that must be followed by authors who wish to publish their scientific articles in the Journal of Engineering:

  1. Authors must uphold scientific integrity and understand the benefits and risks associated with published works.
  2. Published articles must be free of misconduct, including: fabrication, falsification of data, and plagiarism/self-plagiarism.
  3. Authors must provide adequate citations for all statements, ideas, and data that are not the result of their own research.
  4. The published article does not create conflict with any specific parties or have the potential to cause public unrest.
  5. The authors listed in the published article are indeed those who are qualified and have made significant contributions to the writing of the article.
  6. The author has not submitted this manuscript for simultaneous publication (double manuscript submission) to any other journal or publication medium.
  7. The article, in whole or in part, has not been published in any other publication.
  8. The published articles are the original results of the authors’ research, ideas, or thoughts.

If an article has been accepted, the author is required to complete the Author’s Statement on the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication, which must be signed by the lead author on a stamped document.
