Abstract

The campus environment is an external factor that plays a strategic role in shaping students’ learning motivation in higher education. High levels of learning motivation are essential to support student engagement in the learning process and to achieve optimal academic outcomes. This study aims to examine the influence of the campus environment on students’ learning motivation based on previous research findings. A literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected from 20 relevant national and international scholarly articles published within the last five years, focusing on campus environment and students’ learning motivation. The articles were analyzed by identifying key findings, categorizing them into physical, social, and academic environment aspects, and synthesizing the results across studies. The findings indicate that the campus environment has a significant influence on students’ learning motivation. Adequate physical environments, including comfortable and well-equipped learning facilities, contribute to improved concentration and learning readiness. A supportive social environment fosters psychological safety and a sense of belonging, which enhances students’ intrinsic motivation. Furthermore, an academic environment characterized by interactive teaching methods, a positive academic culture, and effective integration of learning technologies plays an important role in increasing student engagement and learning interest. Overall, students’ learning motivation is formed through the synergy of physical, social, and academic dimensions of the campus environment. Therefore, higher education institutions should prioritize the development of a conducive campus environment as a strategic effort to enhance learning quality.
