Abstract

Literature is the art of language. Literature must have meaning. Literary works are born to be enjoyed by themselves or to be enjoyed by their readers. In order to be able to write as well as enjoy literary works, we must truly have knowledge of literature. Without sufficient knowledge of literature, it will be difficult for us to enjoy a literary work. What we can enjoy only temporarily and briefly, it is due to our lack of understanding of literary knowledge. Literature itself has three elements that must be known, namely literary history, literary theory and literary criticism.
